Need to know how to make a joint filter? You’ve come to the right place. Not only have we rolled literally hundreds of joints over the years, but we have rolled the majority of them with a joint filter. What’s the advantage of using a filter? It has everything to do with having more bud in your pouch and fewer roaches. Another bonus is that it keeps the tips of your thumbs and index fingers nice, clean, and odour-free. Read on, and roll your next doobie with the perfect filter.
The appeal of rolling a joint with a filter is quite simply this; it means that you’re able to smoke the entire joint without have to nub it out before it starts burning and staining your fingertips. No smelly and resin-stained fingertips, and no roach. That’s pretty appealing if you’re planning to go to the movie theatre or any public space where you’d prefer to not smell like you just smoked a joint.
Now, let’s talk go through the steps of how to make a filter.
Leave 2/3 Inch
You should first understand that the filter is going to take up a little space along the length of the rolling paper. So when you’re loading in your product, make sure to leave a half inch or so for the filter. Yes, it means there’s less space to pack the joint with weed, but it’s advantageous in the long run because none of the weed goes to waste. Trust us on this one.
You’ll now have a rollie that’s – based on standard sizes – about 5/6 full of marijuana with the space at the end ready for your joint filter.
How To Make A Joint Filter With The ‘Accordion’ Fold
This is an integral part of making a joint filter. They’re most commonly made from a small, rectangular piece of cardboard and usually around two-thirds of an inch wide and 1.5” long. Any type of thin cardboard will do – business cards, flyers, even the rolling paper packaging. Cut it with scissors if you have them, but if not tearing your filter away is perfectly fine too. Accordion folding is easy:
- Fold your length of paper over to the left
- Now fold it over to the right
- Now fold it to the left again
If you see something of a ‘zigzag’ to it then you’ve made your accordion fold correctly.
Roll Up N’ Enjoy
Now you’re ready to twist up your joint and then slide your filter into the space available at the end of your rolling paper. The accordion fold will allow it to expand to fit snugly into the tube. Voila, you’ve now got a joint that’s ready to be smoke ALL the way down and enjoyed to the very last toke. Then you drop the filter into an ashtray or appropriate waste receptacle, and continue on with your day or evening in a much better state of mind.
